With results benchmarking, you evaluate end results. With process benchmarking, you focus on the practices used to produce the end result.

  • The Power of Reprimand.
    Sometimes the act of praise by the boss towards his employee is often taken for granted. If the boss catches people doing wrong in their work place, he needs to reprimand them. He needs to tell people how he feels about what they did wrong - & in no uncertain terms. By doing so, he is correcting the behavior so that it does not get repeated. If the first half of the reprimand is to correct the people doing wrong the second half of the reprimand is to shake hands, or touch the employee in a way that makes him aware that his boss is honestly on his side.   • Pareto Principle - 80 / 20 Rule.
    The said principle was founded in the year 1895 by Vilfredo Pareto who was an Italian Economist. He was of the opinion that the people who are extremely successful called "vital few" are those who concentrate on the most important jobs which constitute 20 percent & persist till they complete them to the end. In other words, if you have a list of 10 tasks, you must perform the 2 of those tasks which are as much worth than the other 8 items put together.

    The market pays excellent rewards for excellent performance. It pays average rewards for average performance & below average rewards, failure, & frustration for below average performance. In the process, we grow from strength to strength to emerge a winner not only at our work place but also at home.
