Large numbers of tourists come to India to see the Bengal tiger in a tiger safari at Indian tiger reserves that have high numbers of tigers in the wild. Tour operators or travel agents in India offer a package deal for the tiger tours. The tour is usually of fourteen days and includes visit to historical monuments like Taj Mahal or Khajuraho Temples. India has many wildlife destinations or nature preserves which offer exciting ecotourism opportunity to the wildlife lovers.

The package tours offer a cultural experience to foreign tourists and wild life watching the tiger is the focus of attraction. The National Parks that are very popular for tiger watching are Kanha, Pench, Bandhavgarh and Ranthambhore.

The parks offer two rounds of safari in the jungle, one in the morning and one at evening until sunset. This incursion in the forest is enough to give the visitor a good view of the forested landscape and watching wild mammals as Sambar deer, spotted deer and hard ground Barasingha. The primates seen are langurs or the Hanuman monkey and the Rhesus macaque. Wild boars and jackals are a common sight. The wild safari also provides good birding experience to the birder especially in winters when the migrants arrive.

The incursion in the parks cost reasonable amount which is usually the gate fees, guide charge and jeep fees. The jeep safari ride is on per kilometer basis and is at present around 12 Rs. Per/km. During the vacations when the number of tourists is high there is an extra charge applicable to enter the park.

The wildlife resorts offer various packages for boarding and lodging. The Jungle plan package includes accommodation, food and two park rides per day. The American plan offers accommodation in India, breakfast only. In AP rest of the food, the jeep safari and entry fees are billed separately. These plans are suitable to group travelers while the independent travelers prefer to book accommodation only.
