Traveling by air has both its advantages as well as difficulties. Jet lag is one of biggest drawbacks that almost everyone has experienced to some extent. This potential dangerous situation arises when someone travels through several time zones in a short span of time. As a result of jetlag the natural human functions interrupted. Every one of us has natural body clock which determines our timings for different things to be done.
This natural body clock is known as circadian rhythms. If you are planning to farther from your home base then you are supposed to face a complex jet lag and its symptoms. There are certain ways by which you could be able to prevent its symptoms from affecting you and so to avoid the jet lag.
The best way to avoid jet lag is to have a proper rest on the board. Have a good sleep on the air plane while you are traveling to your destination. If you supposed to be flying for longer then do have a travel neck pillow which will help you sleep better. A good nap will refresh you when you get to your destination.
If you belong to the category who found it difficult to sleep on airplane you may try some sleeping pills. You will know how your body reacts with medicines when you are ahead of time. Ensure that you have packed the medicines in your luggage. Still if you are not comfortable with sleeping aid on flight, there is another way. You could change your sleeping patterns. For a week before your journey starts, adjust your sleeping times by one hour daily to match with the destinations time zone. In simple if the time zone of the destination is earlier you have to go to bed early and wake up early before an hour. Do this, until you match the time zone of your destination. You have to do same process in reverse order when you are supposed to come back.
Seasoned travelers take the help of melatonin to counter jet lag. But this does not go well with some people and they react in different ways. As a result you might feel tired without sleeping and sickness. So you have to check about the possible reactions before the departure. Other ways to prevent jet lag is drinking a lot of water but avoid drinks which contain caffeine/ alcohol and smoking too. Nicotine and caffeine will increase the possibility of jet lag.
