Households and storage, always a problem and always an issue. Especially with mothers, wives and girlfriends. This is in no way an attack on the female gender, quite the opposite in fact. Every household has (may just be mine) an ongoing problem with storage, specifically storage in the living room. You spend a hard days graft at work and come home, you slip off your shoes head to the kitchen make yourself a nice cuppa and head for the living room, you drop onto the sofa and are about to put your tea on the coffee table and...There are newspapers, magazines, paperwork, Sunday supplements all stacked to the moon. We have all been here but the female gender tend to feel the pain a lot more than the men, its probably because half that stuff on the table belongs to the man and it is even more likely that half of the items are the weekends football supplements. The coffee table will not be cleared till Thursday when the paper guys come and take all the paper, glass etc.
For years the coffee table has been one of the focal points in any household, it holds your beer, it holds your tea, it is used for magazines, some even put their feet up on it. But most of the time ‘The Coffee Table’ has no space. What if we had coffee tables with more space, better still what if they had storage…there are such things out there. A lot of folk assume that a coffee table with storage would resemble a squashed wardrobe, which looks rather ghastly and has no place in any living room. On the contrary some of these tables are really quite nice and fit in perfectly with their surroundings and are not an eye sore.
Enter the coffee table…
“Where are the keys” you shout up the stairs. “On the table” comes the reply. At this point you know the table is not the best place for them. It was only yesterday, whilst searching for the keys under the magazines and papers you spilt the half cup of coffee that lie teetering on the edge. Hastily you make your way to the table to discover, a brand new coffee table with ample storage for the magazines, newspapers, paperwork, cup of coffee and even the keys. You pick up your keys and leave, it has never been so easy…
May be one day there may even be a case for developing a self standing magazine table or rack…I wonder…
